Print on Demand companies rejoice! Printful has officially updated its price structure, promising vendors access to the same high-quality goods for lower prices, and better-value memberships.
If you’ve read my articles about Printful before, you’ll know it’s one of my favorite Print on Demand platforms.
It offers more integration options, more powerful AI tools, and better-quality items than almost any other POD platform I’ve tried.
Plus, it’s constantly updating its feature set, with new capabilities like the “Printful Quick Stores” function, released this year.
Still, there’s one big issue that prevents a lot of merchants from using Printful: it’s pricing. Printful’s products have historically cost a lot more on average than similar options offered by alternative vendors.
Plus, the paid plan options offered by the company haven’t always been super accessible or affordable either.
Now, that’s all changing.
Here’s everything you need to know about the latest Printful Pricing changes, and why I think they’ll give Printful a serious lead in the POD market.
Printful’s Pricing Changes: A Quick Overview
Printful has altered its approach to both pricing and paid subscriptions a few times in the past, however, the latest pricing update is probably the most significant to date. The pricing update focuses on two core areas:
- Reduced Costs for DTG prices: The base cost of DTG (Direct to Garment) printed products will now be 20% cheaper for customers using Printful’s “Growth” premium plan.
- Updates to plans: Instead of offering two membership options (Growth and Business), alongside a free plan, Printful will now only offer the free plan, and a single paid plan: Printful Growth, for $24.99 per month.
The idea behind both updates is to give Printful users more opportunity to achieve greater profit margins with Printful (and place Printful ahead of competitors like Gelato).
Printful’s DTG Product Price Drop
Let’s start with a closer look at the DTG product price drop. Over the last two years, Printful has actually consistently lowered its prices (even while other companies raised theirs).
However, Printful has maintained a reputation for having relatively “high-priced” goods.

Notably, the prices are definitely a little higher with Printful. For instance, a Bella + Canvas t-shirt (3001) from Printful will cost you around $13.50 if you’re using the free plan.
Pricing for the same shirt from Printify starts at around $10.87. However, it’s worth remembering that the quality of the product you get, the sizes, and even the colors you can access all vary depending on the Printify manufacturer you choose.
Printful offers more consistency.
The extra discounts offered by Printful for members using the Growth plan also make its products a lot more competitively priced.
With the Growth plan, you’d only pay $9.49 for the Bella + Canvas shirt mentioned above (if you were choosing DTG printing).
Of course, other companies, like Printify and Gelato offer membership plans too – but it’s worth noting these plans are more expensive than the Printful growth plan.
You also don’t get the added benefit of accessing those plans for free for a year when you hit $12k a year in sales – that’s something only Printful offers.
To put this into perspective, let’s look at some Printful product prices, compared with Gelato, and Printify product costs.
Printful DTG Product Price Comparison
Product |
Printful |
Printify |
Gelato |
---|---|---|---|
Bella + Canvas 3001 (t-shirt) |
Base cost: $11.50 Growth plan cost: $9.15 |
Base cost: $10.87 Printify Premium cost: $8.69 |
Base cost: $10.12 Gelato+ cost: $9.31 |
Gildan 18500 Hoodie |
Base cost: $27.00 Growth plan cost: $23.49 |
Base cost: $22.03 Printify Premium cost: $16.21 |
Base cost: $19.29 Gelato+ cost: $17.75 |
Gildan 5000 Classic Tee |
Base cost: $10.50 Growth plan cost: $7.79 |
Base cost: $9.70 Printify Premium cost: $7.41 |
Base cost: $8.38 Gelato+ cost: $7.71 |
Gildan 18000 Sweatshirt |
Base cost: $22.50 Growth plan cost: $13.99 |
Base cost: $18.17 Printify Premium cost: $13.37 |
Base cost: $15.99 Gelato+ cost: $14.71 |
Gildan 64000 |
Base cost: $12.05 Growth plan cost: $11.59 |
Base cost: $9.99 Printify Premium cost: $8.01 |
Base cost: $8.94 Gelato+ cost: $8.22 |
Obviously, as you can see from the comparison above, the price drops don’t mean that Printful is cheaper than Gelato and Printify for all of its products.
However, as I’ve noted when talking about Printful’s pricing in the past, it’s worth remembering that you are getting exceptional quality and consistency with this platform.
Printful has an excellent reputation for using high-quality materials, and state-of-the-art printing machines to create its products, so you’re almost guaranteed to get excellent results every time.
Plus, it’s worth taking the cost of the membership plans into account. Imagine, for instance, you sold 20 Gildan Classic 5000 t-shirts in a month.
With Printful Growth, you’d spend $155.80 in production costs, then $24.99 for your plan: $180.79 in total.
With Pritnify Premium, you’d spend $148.20 for the shirts, then $29 for your subscription: $177.20 in total.
But with Printful Growth, you get a year of discounts for free when you reach $12k per year in sales.
That brings your production costs back down to $155.80 – less than you’d pay for Printify.
Printful Membership Changes
Memberships are the “premium” plan options that Printful offered scaling companies in the past. They basically gave companies selling a lot of products access to extra benefits and features.
The Previous Printful Membership Plans
Before now, Printful gave companies two membership options.

Printful Growth was available to users who earned more than $12k a year with the platform, or paid a fee of $24.99 per month.
This plan came with 20% off DTG products (which you now get as standard), up to 30% off other categories, product branding discounts of up to 7%, and free digitalization for sample orders.
You could also create unlimited stores per account, and access personalized product transfer assistance.
The Business plan, which was only available to users who earned more than $60k a year, built on the Growth plan with 22% off DTG products, 35% off products in other categories, product branding discounts of up to 9% and 25% discounts on sample orders.
It also included free digitalization for embroidered products, large front prints for select products, and priority support.
I actually considered these plans to be pretty good value for most scaling companies in the past – but the new plan structure is even better.
The New Printful Plans
Now, Printful is rebranding its memberships as “plans”, and it only offers the standard “free” plan, for all users, and the “Growth” plan.
With the free plan, you’ll still get all of the core benefits that are available to free Printful users today, such as access to unlimited product designs, integrations, Printful’s mock-up generator, AI-powered design tools, and more.
Plus, you can also create Quick Stores with a free plan (provided you’re located in the US).
The Growth plan is now available for $19.99 per month – making it the lowest monthly subscription fee option in the POD industry.
On top of that, Printful has added new benefits to the Growth plan, including:
- Up to 33% off all products
- 9% off product branding
- 25% discounts on sample orders
- Free digitization for sample orders (which usually costs up to $6.50)
- Unlimited stores
- Exclusive limited-time deals
- Large front prints for select products
- Personalized product transfer
Plus, remember you also get the extra 20% discount on DTG products compared to previous membership discounts – making Printful’s products even cheaper.
Even better? If you earn more than $12k in sales within 12 months, the Growth plan is completely free to access for a year. That means no monthly fees at all – for all those extra benefits.
Printful Monthly Plan Comparison
As mentioned above, Printful’s monthly pricing discount now makes it the most affordable premium plan in the POD industry – and one of the most valuable.
Unlike other companies, Printful also rewards you as your business scales by allowing you to access all of the perks of the Growth plan for free as soon as you reach a certain sales target.
No other company in the print on demand industry offers the same perk.
Let’s take a closer look at how Printful’s monthly plan stacks up against the competition.

Comparing the Value for Money
I should note that Gelato and Printify both have additional “premium plans” available. Printify has it’s Enterprise plan (with custom pricing), which gives you access to unlimited stores and “additional discounts” on all products.
Gelato offers the Gold plan for $119 per month, which gives you 30% off branded labels and packaging inserts, and the “Price Navigator” tool. There’s also a “Platinum” plan with custom pricing, bespoke discounts, dedicated customer support, and access to special events.
However, overall, Printful’s new Growth plan definitely offers the best range of features, discounts, and benefits, for the lowest price. It’s also the only plan that becomes free to access once you reach the $12k sales target – you won’t find that anywhere else.
What the Printful Pricing Changes Mean
So, what do all these changes mean for you as a print on demand vendor? Simply put, selling with Printful is going to be cheaper than ever.
Not only can you access more affordable DTG products, without compromising on Printful’s excellent quality, but you can access one of the best-value premium plans in the industry when your company starts to grow.
Printful’s pricing changes have ensured it can offer companies not only one of the most versatile and reliable print on demand platforms around – but also perhaps the best value for money.
The company is using this price update to prove to its customers that it wants them to achieve the best results with their POD stores, and the highest profit margins.
You’ll now be able to enjoy higher profit margins, better discounts, and more perks from Printful than ever before.
If you didn’t love Printful before now, or you were reluctant to give the platform a try based on its high prices, everything has changed! I now have another reason to say that Printful is definitely one of the best POD platforms around.
Just keep in mind that POD platforms can change their pricing structures regularly, so if you want to take advantage of this new structure, I’d advise jumping in quickly.
